Mastronardi Produce Line Gets Airtime On ‘Biggest Loser’

Mastronardi Produce’s Sunset® One Sweet™ line will be featured on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” episode that airs Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. EST. The line will be used as part of a contestant cooking challenge using fresh produce. They will have access to Sunset One Sweet tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. Mastronardi has been a partner of the weight-loss show since the beginning of Season 15 earlier this fall.

“We’re very excited to be a part of such a great program,” said Paul Mastronardi, president of the Kingsville, Ontario-based company. “We’re always looking for ways to promote not just healthy eating but healthy lifestyles in general and this is a great way to reach out to people looking for that.”

As part of The Biggest Loser Healthy Eating Program, Sunset has been ramping up its social media presence to engage users and encourage them to embrace healthy habits. This includes weekly contests to win Sunset care packs, “Biggest Loser” cookbooks and the grand prize—a trip for two to the Biggest Loser resort in Chicago.

A multi-channel social media campaign has been in place since Season 15 kicked off in October. The custom-built website encourages people to share their personal stories. The site also features a variety of recipes as well as product information and related nutritional facts.

“People who are active on social media are encouraged to share their story to win these great prizes,” added Mastronardi. “Our goal is to encourage a supportive environment where people can share their health journeys.”

Specially branded Sunset One Sweet tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers will be in stores throughout North America until the end of December.
