South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard declared Jan. 20 Buche Foods Day in the state. The proclamation honors the grocery company that began operations in 1905 in Lake Andes. It recognizes the opening of a new Buche Foods stores in Scotland, S.D., and that the GF Buche Co. now serves eight communities with 11 stores, “all contributing to the economic strength of those communities.”

“I am so proud of all of you and your associates,” said RF Buche, president of GF Buche Co., in a message to the company’s management team. “As much as I wish I could, I can’t physically thank all our nearly 250 associates. However, you can. I am asking you as favor to me to print the proclamation and give a copy personally to each one of your associates. Shake their hand, congratulate them and thank them. Every last one of us has contributed to this honor.”
