Lovin’ Scoopful Ice Cream Adds 400 Stores To East Coast Distribution

Lovin' Scoopful What the Fudge

Lovin’ Scoopful, a Seattle-based premium ice cream company founded by Maria Shriver, Tim Shriver and partners to benefit Special Olympics and other nonprofits that help empower the human spirit, has increased its product distribution by more than 400 stores along the East Coast. Lovin’ Scoopful Gourmet Light Ice Cream is now available at all 750 Ahold USA stores, including Stop & Shop, Giant Food, Martin’s Food Market, Giant Food Stores and Peapod stores throughout the eastern U.S.

“We are thrilled to expand our presence across the East Coast,” said Dan Samson, co-founder of Lovin’ Scoopful. “With the addition of these great stores, we have increased our store presence across the country by nearly 20 percent, allowing us to better serve our growing customer base.”

New to the East Coast distribution will be: What the Fudge, Lovin’s rich chocolate smothered with thick fudge; and Moose Tracks, the classic combination of peanut butter cups and fudge slathered in vanilla ice cream. As part of the increased distribution channel, Lovin’ Scoopful has changed its packaging from a cylindrical “convocan” to a “sqround” tub, allowing it to fit into additional store shelving models. The new sqround packaging will roll out to all stores nationwide in 2015.

In addition to the expanded Ahold USA distribution, Lovin’ Scoopful can be found at: Walmart Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets in Arizona, Washington, Nevada, Wyoming, California and Utah; Albertsons in the Pacific Northwest; Ralphs in Southern California and Nevada; Fry’s in Arizona; H-E-B in Texas; and Dave’s, IGA and other retailers in New England.

Made with an all-natural base, all Lovin’ Scoopful Gourmet Light Ice Cream flavors contain half the fat of premium ice cream brands, providing a healthier alternative while maintaining a super-premium taste, according to the company. Lovin’ Scoopful Gourmet Light Ice Cream retails for $3.75-$4.99 and can be found in the premium section of ice cream freezers.

Launched in 2008, Lovin’ Scoopful donates 25 percent of its post-tax profits ($50,000 minimum annually) to Special Olympics. The company also hosts an annual Lovin’ Award contest for youth who are committed to making a difference in their communities through involvement with Special Olympics and other uplifting programs and outreach.
