Doris Italian Market Will Open 6th Store In N. Palm Beach

Doris Italian Market

Specialty grocer Doris Italian Market & Bakery will open in a portion of a former Winn-Dixie store in North Palm Beach, Fla., announced the deal’s broker, Continental Real Estate Cos. (CREC), on July 10.

The store is located in the Shoppes at City Centre, a renovated 110,000-s.f. shopping complex centrally located at the southwest quadrant of PGA Boulevard and US 1.

CREC called Doris Italian Market & Bakery “a marquee brand that will enhance the center’s tenant mix.”

It will be the sixth Doris Italian Market in South Florida and the company’s largest store at 22,300 s.f. It will take up part of the space vacated by Winn-Dixie; another 25,000 s.f. went to a West Marine store. It is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2015.

“The new Doris Italian Market & Bakery at the Shoppes at City Centre will be the chain’s largest location and serve as a daily traffic generator for the entire center. Since Doris signed as an anchor supermarket, we have already started to see an increase in leasing velocity and upswing in rental rates,” said Steven Henenfeld, co-director of leasing for CREC. “The retailer will also add tremendous value to the area’s residents, offering a full-service specialty market to meet their grocery needs.”

Other tenants in the center include Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Zoo Fitness, Allstate Insurance and Vagabond Boutique.

Doris Italian Market is a locally owned chain founded in 1947. It features full bakery and deli, seafood and produce departments. The other locations are spread throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties in Pembroke Pines, Sunrise, Boca Raton, Hollywood and Coral Springs.
