United Family Stores To Host School Supply Drive Through Aug. 12

The United Family is again partnering with Lubbock, Texas-area schools to host “Project SOS: Supply our Students,” a school supply drive for local students in need. Through Aug. 12, guests are encouraged to make a cash donation during checkout or purchase school supplies and drop them into barrels located near the entrance of any United Supermarkets, Market Street or Amigos locations in Lubbock and Slaton.

“School supplies are essential to a child’s success in the classroom, and the reality is that many families in our community are unable to purchase these items for their children,” said Shelby Crews, community relations manager for The United Family. “The money and supplies we collect will help ensure all Lubbock children have the proper tools to learn and develop in the classroom alongside their peers.”

Schools that will benefit from the drive include Cooper, Frenship, Lubbock, Roosevelt and Slaton ISDs. Each school receiving donations will directly issue them to families and children in need.

“We are grateful for United Supermarkets’ support as we partner with our community to provide school supplies for students who might not otherwise have what they need for school this fall,” said Dr. Berhl Robertson Jr., superintendent for the Lubbock Independent School District. “The donated supplies will be crucial to helping prepare our students to learn and succeed in school this year.”
