Meijer opened a supercenter store on July 31 in Marysville, Ohio. The opening of the 190,000-s.f. store at 930 Coleman’s Crossing Blvd. created more than 270 new jobs.
“The Ohio market continues to be a very important growth area for us, and this new supercenter reinforces our commitment to meeting the needs of families by providing positive solutions every day,” said Meijer Co-Chairman Hank Meijer. “We’re excited to bring the Meijer difference to our new neighbors in Marysville and its surrounding communities.”
With 41 stores spread throughout Ohio, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer now has 213 stores throughout the Midwest and said its steady growth is the result of focusing on fresh grocery options and on community partnership.
The new supercenter features fresh produce, meat and dairy delivered seven days a week, and a bakery that offers fresh bread baked four times daily.
Meijer kicked off its opening celebration with a ribbon-cutting event inside the store, followed by remarks from Meijer officials and local dignitaries.
Store Director Kevin Dicler presented a $25,000 check to Marysville Early College High School to help support the creation of state of the art learning labs for the school’s STEM learning program. He also presented $1,000 checks to the Marysville High School gymnastics team and Care Train of Union County, an organization that provides food and toys to individuals and families experiencing economic difficulties during the holiday season.
In addition to the retailer’s traditional grocery and merchandise offerings, the supercenter also has a pharmacy featuring the company’s free prescription program, as well as clinical services and immunizations. The prescription program includes leading oral generic antibiotics with a special focus on prescriptions most often filled for children, prenatal vitamins and medications for those with diabetes and high cholesterol.
Meijer stores have evolved through the years and now include comprehensive electronics departments, garden centers and apparel offerings.
