Publix will honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, along with their families, by offering a 10 percent discount on Tuesday in recognition of Veterans Day.

To qualify for the discount, active and retired military personnel and family members will need to present a form of military identification. Examples include: a military identification card; a veteran identification card; a driver’s license with the veteran’s designation; or a copy of their DD-214 (discharge document) along with a driver’s license.

“Publix is proud to honor the men and women who serve and protect our country and our freedom,” said Maria Brous, director of media and community relations for the Lakeland,  Florida-based grocer. “We support the military and their families through many programs throughout our operating areas. Publix’s Veterans Day discount is an extension of our military support and directly impacts our service families. Our promotion is a small token of appreciation for their everyday acts of bravery. It’s one way we can give back.”

The 10 percent discount only applies to purchases made on Veterans Day, and excludes all gift cards, alcohol, tobacco, lottery items, money services, postage stamps and prescriptions.
