Whole Foods Market’s newest location, at 348 Harrison Avenue in Boston’s South End community, will open with the company’s traditional bread-breaking ceremony at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9. The store will officially open for business at 10 a.m.

The 50,0000-s.f. store is located in the Ink Block Development on the property of the former Boston Herald building. It will be Whole Foods’ 30th Massachusetts location and serve as the company’s Boston flagship. It will employ approximately 220 people.

The full-service grocery store will serve the South End community with natural and organic groceries, produce, seafood and meats. The Ink Block location will boast a variety of unique prepared foods venues as well as a large beer, wine and spirits selection, according to the Austin, Texas-based grocer. With a strong emphasis on convenience, Whole Foods Market Ink Block also will feature an in-store spa operated by Austin-based milk + honey. The spa will offer services ranging from manicures, pedicures and facials, to hot shaves and shoe shines.
