WinCo Foods will open its first store in Chandler, Arizona, on Thursday. It will mark the Boise, Idaho-based grocer’s sixth store in the state. The approximately 85,300-s.f. Chandler store is located at 222 W. Willis Road. It will initially employ about 150 people, 140 of whom have been hired locally.
The store will feature the “Wall of Values” at the entry, which displays a variety of high-volume products with particularly good pricing, according to the grocer. The main sales floor of the store encompasses large fresh produce, bulk foods, meat, deli, seafood and bakery service departments. The bulk foods department allows customers to buy only the amounts they want and displays more than 700 items, including many natural food products, some organics, snacks, candies, cereals, flours, pastas, spices and more.
WinCo says the store’s decor package creates an efficient, clean feel and highlights the product and coordinates nicely with the hundreds of private label products the company continues to introduce.
Chandler store manager Tony Heath transfers to the store from the Mesa WinCo located at 1235 S. Power Road. Heath has 16 years of experience with the company. Assistant managers are Carlos Aparicio and Shawn Curtiss, both of whom also transferred from the Mesa store.

WinCo operates 99 stores and five distribution centers in Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon, Arizona, Utah and Texas.
