New England Ice Cream Co. of Taunton, Massachusetts, has purchased Bliss Bros. Dairy of Attleboro, Massachusetts. Bliss Bros. has been a family-owned company since 1929, although the family has owned a dairy farm dating back to the 1600s. Bliss Bros. owns its own restaurant in addition to distributing ice cream to about 400 other restaurants.

New England Ice Cream, a full-service distributor, does not plan to make any changes to the ice cream production or to the restaurant, other than to expand the ice cream distribution.

New England Ice Cream has expanded greatly in the last few years and now occupies a large building in the Taunton Myles Standish Industrial Park. New England Ice Cream distributes major ice cream brands to food service, convenience stores and drug stores. In recent years, it has acquired Specialty Ice Cream, Ronnie’s Slush and the ice cream division of Guida’s Dairy.
