The Brookshire Brothers grocery chain has entered into an agreement to sell 26 convenience stores in its Polk division to Partners Investors C-Stores Ltd.

The Polk stores are located throughout Deep East Texas. Brookshire Brothers will keep its Polk Pick-It-Up locations in Hudson, Central Heights, Central and Wells.

“We are continuously evaluating our business to ensure optimal resource utilization,” said John Alston, COO of Brookshire Brothers. “Our focus is to provide an exceptional shopping experience for our customers in all of our formats, including the recently launched Brookshire Brothers Express banner.”

The company will continue to expand beyond its current footprint, it said in a news release. In 2015, Brookshire Brothers will open stores in Hamilton, Pilot Point and Canyon Lake.

Brookshire Brothers was founded in 1921. The company is 100 percent employee owned, and its assets include retail outlets incorporating grocery stores, convenience stores as well as free-standing pharmacy, tobacco and gas station locations.
