FMI Names Northeast Store Manager Award Finalists, And More…

The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Store Manager Awards Program recognizes exceptional supermarket store managers who generate sales growth, provide great customer service, contribute to attaining company goals and are an integral part of the communities they serve. FMI will honor 10 finalists and announce the four grand-prize winners at FMI Connect in Chicago on June 10. This year, FMI created a social media category for the honor called the Store Manager “People’s Pick” Award. FMI has been promoting the profiles of each finalist via its Facebook page. The finalist receiving the most “likes” by this Friday will receive the Store Manager “People’s Pick” Award and a $500 donation to help the winner celebrate with his or her store associates. Finalists from the Northeast are: Class A (1-49 stores)—Bernie McGoldrick of ShopRite Supermarkets, Chester, New York; Class B (50-199 stores)—William Martin of Giant Food Stores, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, and Will McDevitt of Weis Markets of Fogelsville, Pennsylvania…

Based on a study of 10,000 U.S. consumers, Hannaford and Publix took the top spots in the 2015 Temkin Effort Ratings, which rates how easy or difficult it is to work with companies. The ratings examine 293 companies across 20 industries. Aldi, Lowe’s, credit unions, PetSmart, Trader Joe’s, Amazon.com, Bed Bath & Beyond, Advance Auto Parts and Walgreens fill out the top 10 spots…

Tops Friendly Markets has added two stores in New York, one newly built in Walworth and another in Lyons in the former Loson’s Big M Market, which the company acquired in March and remodeled. With the additions, Tops operates 164 locations in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.
