Hain Celestial Acquires Europe-Based Mona Group, And More…

The Hain Celestial Group of Lake Success, New York, an organic and natural products company with operations in North America, Europe and India, has purchased the Mona Group, a manufacturer of plant-based foods and beverages with facilities in Germany and Austria. Mona offers a range of organic and natural products under the Joya and Happy brands, including soy, oat, rice and nut-based drinks as well as plant-based yogurts, desserts, creamers, tofu and private label products, sold to retailers in Europe, primarily in Austria and Germany and eastern European countries…

The fourth annual Boston Seafood Festival will be held Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Boston Fish Pier from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. There will be tastings, clambakes, chef demonstrations and educational talks on sustainability, nutrition and safe fishing practices and chef competitions…

The National Retail Federation (NRF) has lowered its retail sales forecast for 2015 because of unexpected slow growth recorded during the first half of the year. However, NRF expects sales will steadily increase through the remainder of the year. NRF forecasted in February that retail sales would grow 4.1 percent in 2015 over 2014 but has lowered the forecast to 3.5 percent. The estimates include general retail sales and non-store sales and exclude automobiles, gas stations and restaurants.
