ABA Files Suit Over San Francisco Labeling Rule, And More…

The American Beverage Association has joined two other groups in trying to block San Francisco city rules requiring mandatory labels on soda advertisements. The label, which must be affixed to sugary beverages, would read, “Warning: Drinking beverages with added sugar contributes to obesity, diabetes and tooth decay.” The lawsuit, which also includes the California Retailer Association and the California State Outdoor Advertising Association, claims the regulations are unconstitutional and violates the First Amendment principle…

On July 30, Cumberland Farms kicked off its annual Cups for Kids campaign, a month-long fundraiser that will benefit pediatric care programs at five hospitals throughout the Northeast. During the month of August, 5 cents from every iced coffee or Chill Zone beverage purchased at specified retail locations will go directly to participating hospitals: Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center, Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Albany Medical Center, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and the Barbara Bush Hospital at Maine Medical Center. Rita’s Italian Ice, an Italian Ice concept with more than 600 stores globally, will enter the convenience and fuel-retailing channel nationwide, with two area development agreements. The agreements were awarded to M&M ARC Inc. for the development of the West market and to Ice & Go LLC for the development of the Midwest, South and Northeast markets. Together, the two agreements call for 60 units by 2025.
