Minnesota’s First Fresh Thyme Farmers Market Will Open In Bloomington Sept. 30

Minnesota will get its first Fresh Thyme Farmers Market this fall when the grocer opens a store in Bloomington on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

“Fresh Thyme is excited to open its first Minnesota store in Bloomington,” said Fresh Thyme CEO Chris Sherrell. “We love meeting new people in the communities we join, and we look forward to offering a shopping experience that encourages healthy and nutritious buying habits.”

The first 250 people in line when the doors open at 7 a.m. will receive a free reusable bag filled with $50 worth of healthy groceries. In addition to the giveaway, there will be food sampling, live entertainment and fun activities for the whole family. Fresh Thyme will present charitable donations during the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:45 a.m. to the Bloomington Fine Arts Council and Bridging, a furniture bank providing families in need with furniture and home amenities.

“Fresh Thyme is passionate about making ‘local’ a focus of each store,” said Sherrell. “We go to great lengths to source products and produce local to each store; our Bloomington location will stock products such as J.R. Watkins and Clean Smart. We love to support and work with local nonprofits and we hold a job fair for each store opening.”

Greg Beckers will serve as store director of the Bloomington Fresh Thyme. Beckers is a native Minnesotan who has lived and worked in the Twin Cities area for 30 years; he also has consistently volunteered his time to numerous charitable organizations.

“I am very proud to be a part of such a dynamic city that is considered a top place to live and work,” said Beckers. “Fresh Thyme will be a proud and active member of the community.”
