Giant Landover Brings Back Pumpkin Private Line, And More…

Back by customer demand, Giant Food of Landover, Maryland, is offering more than 50 seasonal pumpkin private label products in both the non-perishable and fresh departments. Items range from pumpkin-infused everyday products like pasta sauce, ice cream, waffles and hummus to specialty meal solutions like fully-cooked pumpkin organic chicken, pumpkin and sage ravioli and pumpkin bisque, pumpkin cheesecake cookies, pumpkin cinnamon rolls and pumpkin gelato. “Last year, Giant’s Own Brands Pumpkin items were a hit with customers and we are excited to usher in this fall season with an expanded offering of pumpkin items for them,” said Mark Adamcik, VP of sales and merchandising at Giant Food…

The Food Marketing Institute and the Grocery Manufacturers Association are supporting efforts by the USDA and EPA to set the first-ever national food waste reduction goal for the U.S. The effort calls for a 50 percent waste reduction by 2030. The federal government will lead a new partnership with charitable organizations, faith-based organizations, the private sector and local, state and tribal governments to reduce food loss and waste in order to improve overall food security and conserve the nation’s natural resources…

HP Hood of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of its Winchester, Virginia, processing plant with a special event to honor employees for their hard work and dedication. Over the past 15 years, the Winchester plant has grown from 45 million to 150 million gallons in capacity, five to 13 filling lines, and 265,000 to a 465,000-s.f. facility that sits on 78 acres of land. Winchester employs more than 500 workers and operates on a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week shift schedule.
