Family-owned cupcake company Wicked Good Cupcakes of Cohasset, Massachusetts, has partnered with Cinnabon to introduce the newest line of cinnamon spiced holiday treats: Wicked Good Cinnabon Cupcakes in a Jar. Wicked Good Cupcakes founders Tracey and Dani Noonan gained national attention for their cupcakes in a jar when they appeared on ABC’s “Shark Tank.” Impressed with the concept, Shark and investor Kevin O’Leary helped them expand their business into a multi-million dollar success in just a few short years…

Shareholders of DineEquity, a casual and family dining company and owner of the Applebee’s and IHOP brands, are commending the company for its decision to remove sodas as the default beverage choice on its kids’ menus. DineEquity follows McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Subway, Chipotle, Arby’s and Panera, which already dropped sugary drinks from their kids’ menus—signaling that the fast food and casual dining industries are recognizing the health risks of maintaining these drinks as staple options on menus for children…

Driven by stronger same-store sales and a more optimistic outlook among restaurant operators, the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index (RPI) posted a moderate gain in October. The RPI—a monthly composite index that tracks the health of and outlook for the U.S. restaurant industry—stood at 102.1 in October, up 0.7 percent from a level of 101.4 in September. In addition, October represented the 32nd consecutive month in which the RPI stood above 100, which signifies expansion.
