This Christmas season is one Oklahoma City resident Barbara Allen likely will never forget. Santa, a.k.a. Buy For Le$$, gave her a new home on Dec. 19. She held the winning key to the front door of the 1,642-s.f. house located in Sycamore Creek in Yukon, Oklahoma.
“It’s been a tough year and this is truly a blessing. I appreciate it and I am so grateful, and hope that I, too, will be able to help someone one day, “ Allen said.
After seven months of entries, adding up to a total of approximately 10,000, a finalist from each of the 13 metro Oklahoma City Buy For Le$$ and Buy For Le$$ Supermercado locations was drawn the first weekend of December.
On the day of the grand prize giveaway, each finalist chose a key that could potentially open the front door of the house. Allen, who registered at the grocer’s 2001 NE 23rd Street location in Oklahoma City, was eighth in line to test the key she had chosen.
“This has been a dream of mine for years,” said Buy For Less CEO Hank Binkowski. “And to think that we could actually give a brand new home to one of our guests is hard for even me to believe. I was asked recently why I wanted to give away a new house. I simply want to give one of our guests a new home to express our love for the guests and community that have loved a local family business like ours for over 27 years.”
The house, built by Home Creations, features three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two dining areas and is valued at $170,000.
No purchase was necessary to enter the giveaway. Contestants were limited to one entry per day at the guest services window of each location.
