Government Probes Chipotle Norovirus Case At California Location, And More…

Cosi Inc. of Boston, a fast-causal operator, has restructured operations and cut 11 employees with plans to close a handful of restaurants. One New York City location closed Jan. 2. The company also confirmed its plans to close three additional locations in other markets as part of its ongoing strategy to address the bottom 25 percent locations in restaurant level cash flows. In addition, the company is actively pursuing an exit strategy for six other locations and is evaluating other options for the remaining restaurants in the bottom 25 percent. Same-store sales rose .7 percent in the fourth quarter and 2.1 percent in December. Cosi currently has 78 company-owned and 31 franchise restaurants operating in 15 states, the District of Columbia, Costa Rica and the United Arab Emirates…

The next meeting of the ACF/Epicurean Club of Boston will be held Monday, Jan. 18, at Terry O’Reilly’s in Newton Center, Massachusetts. The new incoming president will be James Connolly, CEC, CCA, AAC.
