The Rhode Island Legislature is reviewing a trucker’s toll of a maximum $20 to cross the state in any one direction from Massachusetts to Connecticut. The tolls would be applied to large commercial trucks, and the bill prohibits the extension of tolls to passenger vehicles without the approval of voters at a statewide referendum. As part of a continuing objective to support U.S. troops, and in accordance with the company’s yearlong 80th anniversary celebration, Big Y Foods is partnering with the United Service Organizations (USO) to collect and send Valentines to servicemen and women overseas and at local bases. As of Jan. 30, Big Y has already collected 2,500 completed Valentines from all ages; even a 1-year-old scribbled a greeting.
