Fresh Thyme Farmers Market will open its first Louisville, Kentucky, store, on Wednesday, April 27. It will mark the grocer’s second store in the Bluegrass State.

According to Louisville Business First, Fresh Thyme renovated a 28,000-s.f. building at 4301 Shelbyville Road near Hubbards Lane in the East End. It was previously home to a Liquor Barn. The store will employ about 100 people once it opens.

Fresh Thyme touts itself as a natural, organic grocery store that features items such as hormone-free meats, natural and organic bulk foods, gluten-free and dairy-free options, locally roasted organic coffee beans, artisan breads and fresh seafood that is flown in daily. The stores also carry vitamins and skin care products and a “hops & grapes” department that features craft beers and wine selections.

Illinois-based Fresh Thyme has more than two dozen stores throughout the Midwest. The company’s other Kentucky store is in Newport.

Fresh Thyme plans to have 60 stores by 2019.
