John Maguire, head of Friendly’s Restaurants, also will lead Johnny Rockets, an operator and franchisor of more than 350 Americana-themed restaurants in 28 countries, as president and CEO.
Immediate plans are for Johnny Rockets and Friendly’s to continue to operate independently, while management collaborates on how best to capitalize on the synergy of the two brands.
“Johnny Rockets’ mission is in line with what we’re doing at Friendly’s, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead another iconic restaurant brand,” said Maguire. “The international reach of the Johnny Rockets brand, the passion and enthusiasm of its franchisees, and the unique outlets in which it serves guests on a daily basis present exciting opportunities for growth.”
Both brands share the mission of “serving classic American fare in a family-friendly setting.”
Maguire will develop new business opportunities for both brands through increased purchasing power and greater product distribution.
Every Johnny Rockets restaurant serves a menu of all-American favorites, including hamburgers, classic sandwiches and hand-dipped shakes and malts.
Private equity group Sun Capital Partners owns both restaurant brands.
