US Foods Launches Sustainable Product Line, And More…

US Foods has introduced 21 new items under the “Serve Good” moniker that are responsibly sourced or contribute to waste reduction. The line features a range of products, including cage-free eggs, organic bread, non-GMO oils and sustainable seafood. “The demand for sustainable options when dining out continues to grow,” said Stacie Sopinka, VP of product development and innovation for US Foods. “In fact, nearly 70 percent of diners say they would have a better impression of a restaurant that offered sustainable foods. Wegmans Food Markets is introducing five fresh organic sandwich breads, all made at Wegmans’ bakeshop in Rochester, New York. The sliced breads are White Made with Oatmeal, 100% Whole Wheat, Honey Cracked Wheat, 27 Grains and Seeds, and Sprouted Multigrain. Each are priced at $5 for a full loaf and $3 for a half loaf.
