“Giant is always pleased to provide opportunities for healthy eating, whether it’s at home or in the store,” said Lisa Coleman, lead nutritionist for Giant. “This program is one more way Giant helps children consume enough fruits and vegetables, further emphasizing our commitment to helping customers of all ages eat well and make healthy choices for themselves and their families.”

In-store signage and produce displays will direct customers to the free fruit that is available in each store. Bananas will be offered first, followed by mandarin oranges later in the fall. Customers are encouraged to take one piece of fruit per child age 10 and under.

Giant offers farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, including local seasonal picks and certified organics that will inspire kids and families to eat well. Some produce sources for Giant are locally-sourced organic products, including those from BrightFarms.
