Teamsters Local 830 and the American Beverage Association jointly filed a suit against Philadelphia’s plan to implement a soda tax. The suit seeks to block the tax from going forward until a court can hear arguments about the proposed tax. At the June rally, the Teamsters were joined by members of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division, community allies and store owners, while Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Canada Dry trucks and Teamster 18-wheelers circled Philadelphia City Hall and people held signs saying, “No More Taxes.” “This soda tax is a regressive tax that will hurt our industry,” said Bill Hamilton, Teamsters International VP. “The issue has never been about health, and we will all end up paying for this tax with the job losses that will occur if the mayor’s soda tax is passed.”…

Rutter’s is beginning a Pumpkin Palooza in anticipation of fall. This year, Rutter’s will feature pumpkin rolls, pumpkin spice cappuccino, pumpkin spice International Delights creamer, the Perfectly Pumpkin Snack Tray, pumpkin fritters and the F’real Pumpkin Cheesecake Shake. Pumpkin spice syrup also will be available at all of Rutter’s coffee condiment areas, in addition to the espresso bar program. Pumpkin-flavored items have been in high demand over the past couple of years. According to Nielsen, since 2011 pumpkin products have increased by 79 percent.
