Kevin Klock, president and CEO of Talking Rain Beverage Co., the maker of Sparkling Ice, has left the company. A reason was not given in press release issued Friday by the company, though Klock was in New York City conducting media interviews as recently as late February with new chief marketing officer Brian Kuz, according to published reports.

CFO Marcus Smith has assumed the responsibilities with full shareholder support, the release says. Senior leadership is working closely together with Smith to ensure a seamless transition.

Smith joined Talking Rain as CFO in early 2014 and has been responsible for finance, accounting, information technology, supply chain and strategic planning. Prior to joining Talking Rain, Smith served as CFO at Mobisante, and CFO of SonoSite Inc., a publicly traded company. He received his bachelor’s degree in public policy from Duke University, a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University as well as a master’s degree in business administration from Columbia University.

Talking Rain is based in Preston, Washington, near Seattle.
