Reasor’s has won two national Excellence in Merchandising awards from Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) for its work in the bakery and deli departments.

As Reasor’s wholesaler, AWG recognizes a select group of its retailers annually with the Excellence in Merchandising Awards. AWG currently is home to more than 3,800 independent grocery retailers in more than 30 states.

“Reasor’s is an example of a retailer providing selections to meet customers’ needs,” said AWG President David Smith. “They have made it their mission to provide products that customers are demanding and even anticipating what the trends will be. They’re a true success story.”

Reasor’s store at 15th and Lewis in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was recognized with the Deli Excellence in Merchandising Award this year. The fully remodeled deli has a state-of-the-art hot line, salad bar, soup bar, fruit and yogurt bar, olive bar and specialty cheese kiosk, where the store cuts and wraps domestic and foreign cheeses daily. A sushi station also is a popular draw for customers.

Run by Deli Manager Robin Gamill, the deli has maintained a customer-centric view, providing items that busy shopper needs. The culinary team takes time to craft specialty sandwiches, gourmet salads, meals for one and family deals.

“We are so proud of Robin and the entire deli team,” said Reasor’s COO Brent Edstrom.“Robin and the team are the embodiment of the high standards we always aim for at Reasor’s. Our company is employee owned, and we believe that this helps our employees to be creative and take ownership of their departments.”

The Broken Arrow Reasor’s bakery department was recognized for its outstanding work as well. Bakery Manager Cathy Elias has helped to show just how expansive a modern grocery store bakery department can be, according to the 19-store grocery chain serving northeastern Oklahoma.

Reasor’s says its customers love the smell of fresh-baked breads at the Broken Arrow store. In addition to bread, the bakery also does big business with its special-order cake business. For those needing sweet treats right away, there are cakes and other upscale desserts ready for immediate enjoyment. Pies, pastries and other unique items also are available.
