Igor Gorgonzola, Norseland Strike Specialty Cheese Alliance

Igor Gorgonzola

Igor Gorgonzola, a producer of Italian gorgonzola cheese, and Norseland Inc., an importer of Jarlsberg cheese, have struck a partnership that will become effective in January.

“We are proud to represent the leader in Italian gorgonzola cheese production. Igor has superior quality control standards that ensure we are selling the best and safest gorgonzola product on the market,” says John Sullivan, CEO and president of Norseland. “Additionally, Igor has an unparalleled commitment to family, and it is a pleasure to work directly with the third-generation owners.”

“With great satisfaction, we have signed this alliance for an important market like the United States of America, where blue cheeses are highly appreciated and consumed. With Norseland as a leader in cheese distribution, we have found the same motivations as Igor for quality, professionalism and passion,” says Igor CEO Fabio Leonardi.

Igor was founded in 1935 in Mezzomerico, a small village in the hills of Novara, Italy. In 1996, the company’s headquarters moved to the current location in Cameri, a modern facility equipped with cutting-edge technologies for the production, aging and packaging of gorgonzola.

The volume of  Igor’s business has grown steadily over the years in compliance with the highest hygiene and eco-friendly standards, the company says.

Norseland/Igor GorgonzolaNorseland, a subsidiary of TINE SA, a cooperative of more than 13,000 dairy farmers in Norway and its largest producer, distributor and exporter of dairy products, is the exclusive importer, sales, marketing and distribution agent for Jarlsberg cheese, Snøfrisk, TINE Brunost Collection, Ilchester, García Baquero, Lotito, Gabriella, Parmissimo, Old Amsterdam and Couturier.
