With the support of Cardenas Markets, the Cardenas Markets Foundation is launching a new scholarship program intended to support students in California (Inland Empire, Imperial Valley and Bay Area), Arizona (Phoenix and Tucson) and Nevada (Las Vegas).
Specifically, they will be granting a total of 59 scholarships—one $2,000 award per each of the stores they operate. Fifty-nine winners will be selected based on their academic qualifications, financial need and leadership attributes. They also must demonstrate throughout the application process a strong desire to pursue a higher education and commitment to serving their communities.
Cardenas Markets and the Cardenas Markets Foundation understand how important college completion is to students. This is why, over the last 15 years, the Cardenas Markets Foundation has provided educational assistance through grants and scholarships to support hundreds of students in the communities served by the Cardenas Markets stores and in partnership with local community colleges, universities and college-bound programs.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Student must be enrolled in high school and expected to graduate by June 30, 2020, or enrolled in an institution of higher education, accredited vocational training or a graduate advanced degree program; and
- Student must reside within the valid zip codes of any Cardenas Markets or Los Altos Ranch Market store locations.
