Monies raised at the golf classic will fund research and provide health care services and support for more than 1,700 MDA families across the state of Iowa.

“We are proud to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association through this annual event that’s raised over $850,000 over the last 10 years,” said Reynolds W. Cramer, Fareway president and CEO. “We want to thank our generous partners, who continue to support us in our efforts to further MDA’s life-saving mission.”

Forty-five vendor partners provided sponsorships and teams, making it a full tournament once again. For the 10th year in a row, the golf classic was presented by Keurig Dr. Pepper; other top sponsors included American Foods Group, Blue Bunny, Cylinder Express, Dean Snyder Construction, EJ Gallo Winery, Greater Omaha, Kemps, PepsiCo, Sanderson Farms, Sazerac, Tyson, Webster City Custom Meats and Wells Fargo Advisors.

“The funds raised at this event are crucial to local families here in Iowa and helps fund groundbreaking research, a state-of-the-art Care Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and helps send kids to MDA Summer Camp. The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically impacted our fundraising events across the country this year. Despite the challenges though, Fareway and their vendor partners persevered to put on a safe and successful golf outing to raise desperately needed funds, and we are incredibly appreciative” said MDA Development Director Brette Puhl.

In 2020, Fareway employees, customers and vendors raised more than $415,000 for the MDA through various fundraising efforts including the golf event.

Fareway Stores is a growing Midwest grocery company currently operating 123 stores in a six-state region. It is a family-owned business, recognized as a top 10 employer in Iowa, and has more than 12,000 total employees.
