Kroger’s Atlanta Division delivered four pallets of diapers, with a retail value of more than $7,500, to Helping Mamas, the baby supply bank of North Georgia.

“Families are not only facing increased food insecurity during the pandemic, they’re struggling to purchase essential items such as diapers,” said Felix Turner, manager of corporate affairs for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “Our goal as a community partner is to connect with local organizations like Helping Mamas that are providing much-needed support during the pandemic and beyond.”  Kroger division

Three out of five families struggle with diaper need, according to Helping Mamas.

“We appreciate the support from community partners like Kroger,” said Jan Ruth Mayheu, director of major giving for Helping Mamas. “With their help, we will serve hundreds of families experiencing diaper need during these trying times. Collaborations and partners are what help make our communities stronger.”

The donation is part of Zero Hunger | Zero Waste, Kroger’s bold social impact plan aimed at creating communities free of hunger and waste.

“As a part of Zero | Hunger Zero Waste, we want to help eliminate the need for families to choose between putting food on the table and the need to purchase other critical necessities,” Turner said.

The Kroger Co. has 30,000 associates who serve customers daily throughout Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Georgia, Eastern Alabama and South Carolina.

Helping Mamas provides essential baby items and period products to those who need them most. Over the last seven years, Helping Mamas has distributed more than two million items to families throughout Georgia. It is working to make sure no family has to choose between diapers and food for their child.
