The Giant Co. Donates 3,000 Hams For Holiday Season

Giant sustainability

Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based The Giant Co. has donated 3,000 hams to 14 partner food banks and food pantries in advance of the holidays.

Hams were donated across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, bringing the company’s platform, For Today’s Table, to life by contributing a holiday staple to families in need.

“As our local food banks and food pantries work tirelessly to assist individuals and families seeking support, which often increases during the holiday season, we want them to know they aren’t alone,” said Jessica Groves, community impact manager. “During this season of giving, The Giant Co. is proud to again join with our hunger relief partners to help brighten the holidays and ensure families in need throughout our local communities are able to come together for a special meal.”

In addition to the donations, The Giant Co. team members recently volunteered at food banks and pantries, packing hunger relief boxes and organizing and restocking shelves in preparation for the busy holiday season.

“As rising inflation, an uneven economic recovery and cold weather are converging to make it especially challenging for families in the Blue Ridge area to put nutritious food on the table, our friends at Martin’s have come through again,” said Michael McKee, CEO of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. “Their steadfast support over the years – with food and financial donations and volunteer hours – has been sustaining in so many ways. This latest donation of protein arrives just in time to provide food and hope at the holidays for many community members.”

Customers can join The Giant Co. in making a difference this holiday season. At any Giant, Martin’s or Giant Heirloom Market store customers can round up their purchase at checkout to benefit their local food bank or pantry. Through Dec. 24, customers can donate free ham certificates at the register in-store or donate 400 Choice points online, for which The Giant Co. will make a $10 donation to a local food bank. Customers can also purchase reusable bags to benefit Feeding America.

The Giant Co. has more than 35,000 team members supporting nearly 190 stores, 132 pharmacies, 107 fuel stations and more than 150 online pickup hubs and grocery delivery service in hundreds of zip codes. Founded in 1923, The Giant Co. family of brands includes Giant, Martin’s, Giant Heirloom Market, Giant Direct and Martin’s Direct. The Giant Co. is a company of Ahold Delhaize USA.
