Moser’s, a family-owned grocery store chain, opened a newly-built supermarket in Columbia, Missouri on May 4, featuring a drive-thru Champs Chicken.
The drive-thru location features an innovative double-line kitchen layout and an integrated order management system with digital drive-thru menu boards and mobile app technology.
“We have the full recipe for success right here with this location: a great partner in Roger Moser, who has been a customer since the very beginning when he opened our very first Champs Chicken location; a great new build in a thriving city; a great team of Moser’s employees, fully supported by our professional team of trainers; and a new menu featuring our high-quality, delicious fried chicken that we’ve been serving for over 23 years, streamlined for speed,” said Shawn Burcham, founder and CEO of Champs Chicken and PFS brands.
According to Jim Spratt, VP of project management for PFS brands, “the grocery store drive-thru model has been a vision of our founder for many years. As we’ve worked in lockstep with grocery stores throughout the country for the last two decades, we’ve seen an increase in consumer demand for convenience and multiple paths to purchase…like grocery store pickup and mobile food ordering.”
Customers can purchase Champs Chicken inside the grocery store at the traditional hot-case, through the drive-thru and by ordering on the Champs Chicken app or third-party ordering apps for pick-up or delivery.
“Communities will always need grocery stores and comfort food, that’ll never change,” said Roger Moser, owner of Moser’s. “But what has changed in my 40-plus years in the industry is how customers want to get it.”
From a concrete floor garage in 1999 to now more than 400 locations in convenience stores and grocery stores, Champs Chicken plans to continue its growth in these market segments while also growing into stand-alone locations.
