PSK Supermarkets, a member of Allegiance Retail Services, a retailer owned grocery co-op, is celebrating the grand reopening of Foodtown of East 204th Street in the Bainbridge section of the Bronx, New York.
According to Noah Katz, president and CEO of PSK Supermarkets and ARS board member, the grand reopening of this store marks a milestone for PSK Supermarkets as it holds special historical significance.
“This supermarket is at the heart of PSK. It is the original store started by my grandfather Paul Katz in 1956 and has undergone significant growth and transformation over the years, expanding from its original 4,000 square feet to its current size of 14,000 square feet. It is with great pride that we are here today for the grand reopening,” Katz said.
The current renovation and expansion into an adjacent storefront has brought:
- Additional frozen food space, catering to the needs and preferences of customers;
- Expanded dairy department;
- An enlarged produce department; and
- Expanded deli section with an extensive selection of items, including cheeses, pasta, soups, hummus and olives.
“These new products speak to the diverse tastes of the local community,” Katz said.
PSK Supermarkets operates 13 stores in the New York metro region with about 1,000 employees. It is the only employee-owned supermarket company in the New York Downstate Region. This transition to employee ownership took place in September 2021, ensuring the long-term success and stability of the company for future generations.
“This grand reopening reflects the company’s commitment to serving its community and evolving to meet the changing needs and preferences of its customers,” said Joseph Fantozzi, president and COO, Allegiance Retail Services.
