Element[AL] Introduces Aluminum Bottles To Wine Industry

From the California-based Bogle Family Wine Collection, Element[AL] Wines has introduced new 750 ml aluminum wine bottles that are lightweight, infinitely recyclable and are made in the shape of a traditional wine bottle.

The Element[AL] portfolio is available in 100 percent recyclable aluminum bottles with four varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Rosé and Pinot Noir. Each wine varietal is grown in sustainable vineyards throughout California’s premier growing regions.

“Element[AL] is more than just the launch of a new wine brand, it’s the beginning of a new way of thinking for the wine industry,” said Jody Bogle, VP of consumer relations at Bogle Family Wine Collection.

“We began by looking for ways to lightweight our existing glass bottles, and that led to a more radical approach that we feel consumers are ready to embrace.”

Element[AL] was forged after three years of research and development. The brand is the first to market with new aluminum wine bottle technology that features a silhouette reminiscent of traditional glass wine bottles while providing environmental responsibility.

Unlike traditional glass bottles, Element[AL]’s bottle features a 360 degree deco design printed on the bottle featuring hand-drawn artwork unique to each variety.

“We’ve been developing Element[AL] for over three years,” said Paul Englert, VP of marketing at Bogle Family Wine Collection.

“We were committed to finding a way to dramatically reduce the carbon footprint of traditional wine bottles in a manner that still connected with consumers. Our comprehensive research indicates exceptionally high consumer purchase interest for this game-changing aluminum wine bottle.”

Why package wine in aluminum?

According to the company, glass bottles are the biggest contributor to the wine industry’s carbon footprint. The benefits of Element[AL]’s aluminum wine bottles include:

Easy to recycle

  • Aluminum can be recycled indefinitely without losing its quality.
  • Aluminum requires 5 percent of the original energy to create the next generation.

Lightweight

  • Element[AL] aluminum wine bottles are 80 percent lighter than an average glass wine bottle.
  • Compared to shipping glass bottles, aluminum wine bottles save about 11,500 pounds of weight per truckload for the same amount of wine.
  • The bottles are smaller than a typical wine bottle due to having thinner walls and no punt. This size allows more cases of wine per truck, as well as saving space in a pantry or on the shelf.
  • Aluminum bottles can go many places where glass cannot, such as pools, beaches and stadiums.

Element[AL] Wines will be available in-store with major retailers nationwide in March. Element[AL] will also be available in select international markets throughout 2024.
