The Gonzalez family, owner of Northgate Gonzalez Markets, hosted its 3rd Annual Partner Appreciation Day on Friday at the family ranch in Riverside County, California. Guests were asked to wear boots, jeans and white shirts and were given a choice of three styles of cowboy hats to wear when they arrived.

The Southern California grocer’s co-president, Miguel Gonzalez Reynoso, and other company leaders thanked the company’s vendor partners for their support by serving a Mexican lunch buffet under a large tent. Music was provided by a Mariachi group. In addition to lunch, the crowd of more than 200 people were entertained by a professional equestrian group of women who ride in formation and side saddle.

Northgate Gonzalez Markets grows its own cactus fields from which it harvests the flowers, once a year, for a special seasoning/spice that is popular in the Hispanic chain’s many stores. The ranch also is home to many citrus trees, which are harvested and sold in the stores as well. The working ranch boasts a large horse arena and barn that is home to numerous horses.

The ranch was built by Gonzalez Reynoso’s father and is a special place for the entire Gonzalez family.

“It is great to have a place where the entire family can gather with their children and grandchildren to play and learn what a working ranch is like,” Gonzalez Reynoso said. “We can make as much noise as we like, and nobody can hear us.”
