Gilbert de Cardenas, founder of Cacique USA, will receive the Dairy Deli Bakery Council of Southern California’s Lifetime Achievement Award during the group’s dinner meeting on Feb. 12.
Cardenas’ family-owned and -operated business is one of the great American success stories that began in the early 1970s when the family received its Visa to come to the United States. Cardenas’ knowledge and strong work ethic was instrumental in setting a foundation for Cacique’s success.
Now, four decades later, Cacique is now the largest Hispanic cheese manufacturer in the world.
Over the years, Cardenas and his family also have been strong supporters of the DDBC and made many contributions to the community as well as to philanthropic and industry causes.
The DDBC dinner will be held at the Holiday Inn in La Mirada, Calif. A social hour will begin at 5 p.m. with the dinner beginning at 6 p.m.
