Belle Foods’ New Meat Case Labels Help Consumers Get Information

Belle-Beef-Choice

Belle Foods is offering smartphone users the opportunity to get meat information while shopping the case.

The new pork and beef labels encourage customers to use their smartphone to scan the Quick Response (QR) code to learn more about cooking methods for various cuts of meat. With the help of the Beef Checkoff and Pork Checkoff programs, Belle Foods is one of the first to use QR codes to help consumers become more familiar with beef and pork cuts and how best to cook them, whether braising, broiling, grilling or sautéing.

“When we looked at our label program we wanted to make it different and useful for our customers while branding our product and name. Incorporating the Quick Response (QR) code was the ‘Refreshingly Simple’ solution,” said Ken Jones, meat and seafood director for Birmingham, Ala.-based Belle Foods, which operates 57 stores in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi.

The collaborative effort involved Yericic Label, Prairie Fresh Pork, National Beef, the National Pork Board and the Alabama Cattleman’s Association.
