Mr. Mike Slaton Sr., VP of real estate at Stater Bros. Markets, died suddenly on Saturday, Sept. 28. He was 51 years old.
As a tribute to Mr. Slaton, the new 44,000-s.f. Stater Bros. Supermarket that opened last week in Redlands, Calif., will be dedicated in his honor.
“Mike was a very loyal and committed member of the Stater Bros.’ family and started his career with Stater Bros. as a courtesy clerk in Redlands…when he was 16 years old,” said Jack H. Brown, Stater Bros. chairman and CEO. “His contributions to our company were immeasurable and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
Mr. Slaton is survived by is wife of 28 years, Cheryl, and his children, Michael, 24, and Elizabeth, 21.
Visitation will be held at Cortner Chapel on Brookside Avenue in Redlands from 5-8 p.m. Friday. A celebration of life will begin 10 a.m. Saturday at Pathway Church on E. Cypress Avenue in Redlands.
The family has requested donations in Mr. Slaton’s honor be made to Stater Bros. Charities and a scholarship fund will be set up in his name at California State University in San Bernardino, his alma mater. Checks can be sent to Stater Bros. Charities, P.O. Box 150, San Bernardino, CA 92402.
