Publix Super Markets Inc. will enter the north Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island, S.C., market with two stores.
The 49,000-s.f. Myrtle Beach store, located in the Coastal North Town Center at Highway 17 and Moss Place, is expected to open in late 2014. he 45,000-s.f. Pawleys Island store, located in the Pawleys Island Plaza at Highway 17 and Petigru Drive, is expected to open in early 2015. The store is part of a redevelopment of an existing shopping center.
“On the heels of our continued expansion in North Carolina, we are excited to offer our associates growth opportunities and bring new jobs to the area,” said Chuck Roskovich, Publix divisional VP. “We look forward to providing South Carolina residents and visitors alike with the high-quality service, products and active community involvement that Publix has become known for in our areas of operation and beyond.”
Last month, Publix also announced a deal to buy seven grocery stores in North and South Carolina owned by Bi-Lo Holdings LLC. Lakeland, Fla.-based Publix will open its first North Carolina stores next year and currently operates more than 1,000 stores in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
