Don’t let the yellow sun that appears behind the iconic Sun-Maid girl fool you—California-based Sun-Maid raisin and dried fruit products are available year round. In fact, the company has a number of new products rolling out, particularly for the holiday season.

“We have a lot of exciting new products,” Sun-Maid Marketing Director Jackie Grazier told The Shelby Report’s Bob Reeves during PMA Fresh Summit in New Orleans earlier this month “It’s particularly in our yogurt-coated flavors.”

Those flavors include Strawberry Greek, Orange Cream and Cherry Chocolate; and especially for the holidays, limited-time Peppermint.

“Our Orange Cream and our Peppermint yogurt, as well as our Vanilla yogurt, come in the mini-snack size, which is a half-ounce size, and then the other flavors come in 5-oz. bags,” Grazier said. “Of course our Dark Chocolate yogurt also is a very popular seller.

“We’re getting a lot of traction with these products and people love them, particularly people who haven’t necessarily been raisin buyers in the past,” she continued. “They love these new products and it just creates a lot of excitement and a lot of buzz in the category.”

Sun-Maid also rolls out special packaging for holidays like Easter and Halloween.

“This year, for Halloween, our packages come in orange and black,” Grazier said.

In addition to its many raisin product, Sun-Maid is a leader in the dried fruit segment.

“We have apricots, cherries, apples, peaches,” Grazier said. “We have fruit bits and mixed fruit. The fruits bits are good, too, if you’re making a bread or something. You can use that as an ingredient. Of course our Zante Currants are really popular in raisin breads that people like to make.

“You can’t beat Sun-Maid,” Grazier added. “It’s a full product line.”
