Sprouts Pushing Expansion Into Kansas, Georgia In 2014

Sprouts Farmers Market

Phoenix, Ariz.-based Sprouts Farmers Market will open a new store in Overland Park, Kan., this week and has plans for five stores in the Atlanta area as part of a continued push to expand beyond its western base of stores, the Phoenix Business Journal reports.

Sprouts will open the 23,360-s.f. Overland Park store on Wednesday. The opening will create an estimated 100 jobs in the area.

“Sprouts brings a deep commitment to community engagement and advancement, and we are proud to be a neighbor in this great region,” said Sprouts CEO Doug Sanders.

The Kansas store is the first of six recent leases the natural foods grocer inked. The other five are for stores in the Atlanta area.

Plans are being developed for new Sprouts stores in the Atlanta-area communities of Snellville, Cumming, Dunwoody, John’s Creek and Norcross. Combined, those stores will bring approximately 500 jobs to the region, Sanders said, according to the Journal.

Those are slated to open sometime this year.

The Georgia stores will be the easternmost stores for Sprouts. The company announced plans in October for a Hoover, Ala., store.
