Diaz Foods has acquired La Cena Fine Foods Ltd.

Founded and operated by the Puig family since 1963, New Jersey-based La Cena has grown into a staple brand whose distribution reaches across the New England area. Diaz Foods says it looks forward to introducing the La Cena family of brands into its existing distribution points throughout 24 states. With the addition of La Cena, Diaz Foods will now distribute to 28 states. Additionally, Diaz will introduce its offerings, approximately 5,000 SKUs, into the New England area. Diaz Foods says it will focus on increasing La Cena’s brand to include new items, products and pack sizes.

“La Cena offers the perfect complement to the brands that Diaz Foods already carries,” said Diaz Foods President and CEO Rene M. Diaz. “Introducing the La Cena family of brands and expanding the distribution area will allow us to continue to offer superior products and service to all of our customers, including the customers in the New England region.”

He adds that Diaz looks forward to announcing another expansion, as well as the company’s plans for 2015, within the next couple of months.

Diaz Foods, headquartered in Atlanta, was formed in 1980 and has grown into one of the largest distributors of Hispanic products in the U.S.
