Albertsons Market opened the company’s first Alamogordo, New Mexico, store Jan. 28. Located at 1300 East 10th Street, the 53,727-s.f. Albertsons Market offers a wide variety of specialty foods, including more than 2,000 international and imported items, an expansive bulk food section, a wine steward and a gluten-free selection containing more than 300 items. The store also features a large grab-and-go section of ready-to-eat foods, a fresh salad bar, free Wi-Fi and the only full-service Starbucks in town.
“We are thrilled to introduce the Alamogordo community to Albertsons Market, which will offer guests an enjoyable shopping experience and rewards designed to save time and money. We are confident this store will become a wonderful part of the community,” said Robert Taylor, president of The United Family, a wholly owned subsidiary of Albertsons.
Albertsons operates 12 additional Albertsons Market locations in New Mexico and West Texas.
At the grand opening ceremony, Albertsons Market representatives presented $10,000 to the United Way of Otero County and $3,000 to Grace United Methodist Church, which hosted the job fair to staff the new store. The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured comments by Taylor, as well as Albertsons COO Bob Butler, Mayor Susie Galea, John Jameson, regional VP of The United Family, and Todd Buchanan, store director of the new Albertsons Market.
“It is a delight to participate in the opening of this new Albertsons Market,” said Buchanan. “We are excited to join the Alamogordo community and look forward to getting to know our guests.”
Buchanan has served as a United Supermarkets store director in Wichita Falls, Texas, for the past nine years. He now returns to Alamogordo, where he lived 20 years ago while working for Budweiser. He joined the United Family in 1999 as a member of the stocking crew in Quanah, Texas, and worked his way up the ladder serving in various roles.
The Albertsons Market in Alamogordo uses the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System and also offers a Rewards program to provide a customized shopping experience. Rewards program members receive product recommendations, digital coupons and product discounts that are individually tailored to their shopping habits.
United currently operates 67 stores under the United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, Albertsons Market and United Express banners, along with ancillary operations R.C. Taylor Distributing, Praters and Llano Logistics.
