The Cambridge, Massachusetts, City Council voted Monday to ban the use of thin, single-use plastic bags at supermarkets and retailers beginning in March 2016. Cambridge is the largest city in the state to enact such a ban. In addition, businesses will charge a 10-cent fee for plastic bags. McCormick & Co. has signed an agreement to purchase 100 percent of the shares of Drogheria & Alimentari (D&A), a privately held company based in Italy. D&A is a leader in spices and seasonings in Italy. Annual sales are nearly $57 million, with 80 percent of the sales coming from Italy and 20 percent of sales exported to 60 other countries.
