Karoun Dairies is voluntarily recalling a variety of cheeses that it distributes due to possible contamination with listeria. To date, no product has tested positive for listeria but Karoun is initiating a voluntary recall in the interest of protecting public health. The products are vacuum packed, in jars or in pails under the following brands: Karoun, Arz, Gopi, Queso Del Valle, Central Valley Creamery and Yanni. Weights vary from 5 ozs. to 30 lbs. The New Jersey Food Council Committee for Good Government will honor four policy leaders at the 42nd Annual Good Government Breakfast at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe Township on Sept. 30. This year’s honorees include Richard Saker of Saker ShopRites; Deputy Director Howard Pine, New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs; Sen. Christopher “Kip” Bateman; and Assemblywoman L. Grace Spencer. During the event, Saker, who serves as chairman, president and CEO of Saker Holdings Corp., will receive the Good Government Award, the most prestigious public policy recognition bestowed on a New Jersey food industry member.
