Kroger has expanded its Decatur, Georgia, store at 2875 N. Decatur Road by more than 47,000 s.f., increasing the location’s total square footage to nearly 114,000 s.f. The store celebrated the expansion with a grand reopening ceremony Wednesday morning.
The expansion adds an estimated 35 new jobs to the Decatur community near Atlanta.
“Kroger has been a part of the Decatur community for nearly 64 years and is always looking for ways to better serve our customers,” says Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “We are thrilled to host the re-grand opening event and to provide our customers with many new amenities that will enhance their shopping experience.”
The renovated Kroger features a new Starbucks kiosk, Nature’s Market, seafood department with a live lobster tank, extensive general merchandise, new floral department, expanded deli, bakery and natural foods area, Kitchen Place, full-service meat department with grilling station, expanded fuel center and more
“In my 17 years of service to Kroger, the excitement expressed from the Decatur community and Kroger associates as we celebrate the re-grand opening of this store surpasses anything I’ve experienced before,” says Todd Emersen, unit manager for the N. Decatur Road Kroger. “We look forward to serving this wonderful community for years to come.”
Georgia Department of Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black was on hand Wednesday to speak about Georgia Grown at the celebration.
As part of the festivities, Kroger donated $500 to partner school and close neighbor, Decatur High School. Additionally, Kroger presented a $250 gift card to the Decatur High School ROTC.
Celebrations continue throughout the week, with balloon artists, sampling and live demos, Georgia Grown events and more.
