Pennsylvania Considers Raising Tobacco Age, And More…

Pennsylvania may join Hawaii in requiring the minimum age for tobacco use to be 21 years old. The current age for tobacco product purchases in the state is 18. Hawaii’s law, which takes effect Jan. 1, is the first statewide measure to set the minimum age for tobacco purchases at 21. Hawaii includes e-cigs in its law. New York City also forbids the selling of tobacco products to those under age 21. Four states have set the minimum age for tobacco purchases at 19: Alabama, Alaska, New Jersey and Utah…

Kevin Martello, VP of convenience for Dr Pepper Snapple Group, has been named the 2015-16 chairman of the NACS Supplier Board. In addition, Brad McGuinness, SVP of corporate R&D at Verifone Inc., is the chair-elect and will succeed Martello as 2016–17 chairman. The NACS Supplier Board is comprised of leaders from NACS supplier member companies that represent different product and service categories in the convenience store industry. Three vice chairmen also have been elected to the five-member supplier board leadership team. They are: Jay Ard, VP of national sales, Coca-Cola Refreshment; Frank McCarter, VP of sales, national accounts, Curtis; and Dave Riser, VP of external relations, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. In addition, six new members were elected to the supplier board: Kevin Farley, COO, GSP; CJ Watson, VP small format, Anheuser-Busch InBev; Stuart Clark, VP of trade relations, McLane Co.; Tom Blair, VP of national accounts, MillerCoors; Tony Battaglia, director of sales/industry relations, PepsiCo; and Wendy Redmond, director of sales, S&D Coffee & Tea.
