Gregg’s Restaurants & Pubs Selected As NRA Restaurant Neighbor Award Winner, And More…

Gregg’s Restaurants & Pubs of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, has been selected as one of three to receive the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation 2016 Restaurant Neighbor Award. For the past 20 years, the company has worked with nonprofit groups to support families, the homeless, the forgotten and the elderly. Through an annual event called the Giving Tree, employees, customers, friends, family and vendors have distributed more than 325,000 Christmas gifts to those in need in the community over the past two decades. Other charitable initiatives include Gregg’s Giving Cake, which donates a portion of cake proceeds to Hasbro Children’s Hospital; Cake for the Cure, which supports the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation; and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, which Gregg’s has supported through donations for the past seven years…

The Chipotle Restaurant in Billerica, Massachusetts, has reopened after it closed for two days when several workers fell ill. None of the employees worked while sick, and the restaurant was given clearance by the Billerica Health Department…

On April 11, five Massachusetts Restaurant Association members will participate in Massachusetts Restaurant Day For No Kid Hungry. The five restaurants—Tremont 647, One Eleven Chop House, The Quarterdeck, Cobblestone of Lowell and East Bay Grille—will donate ticket proceeds to benefit No Kid Hungry’s Cooking Matters Massachusetts program. Chef Andy Husbands of Tremont 647 started the program.
