Boston Salad Shop Reopens After Health Violations Are Fixed

Boston health inspectors temporarily closed Sweetgreen, an upscale salad shop in the Back Bay section of Boston until 20 health code violations were fixed. The cited location reopened late last week after a re-inspection by health inspectors.

Sweetgreen, located at 659 Boylston Street, was cited for issues related to improper sanitation, improper food temperatures and other risks that could lead to foodborne illnesses. Other citations involved employees wearing gloves without changing them and not washing vegetables properly; broken or cracked food containers; inadequate cooling methods; to-go orders sitting out; shelving not under proper temperatures; and built-up soils on ceiling and attached fixtures.

Sweetgreen operates five locations in Boston, and the complaints did not impact the other Boston locations.
